Barefoot Running Boy

Barefoot, brave, questioning

one day he’ll be six feet tall

drum beating his feet for peace

down the end of every country town.

He’s not defined

by other generations of men

and what they say he’ll be.

Barefoot, brave, changing

heart beating for possibility

he’s not afraid of women with wolves.

He’ll run with them and more

he’ll embrace the possibility of

the coyote and dingo

and run, run, run.
